Jay lives in an isolated village deep in the woods of Favilla, but the forests surrounding his village are plagued by beasts called 'Tebrians'. One day, while fishing, Jay comes face to face with one and realizes that they're not all the beasts he was led to believe. With the help of the village healer, he befriends the beast, teaching him to speak.
But, not all beasts are friendly, and Jay must keep his new friend hidden from his father and the rest of his village.

His depression-induced insomnia leads him to explore the woods, at night where he meets a wild tebrian. Finally, Caleb finds someone he can connect to, and possibly even fall in love with.
But once his friends start to question where he sneaks off to at night, he has to realize the village is no longer safe for him, or his new friend; Leo.
